Planning a Vacation to Oahu
The island of Oahu is known as "The Gathering Place" and it's normally what people think of when they think of Hawaii. Oahu includes Waikiki, Honolulu and Kailu. It is also home to top attractions, such as Diamond Head and Turtle Bay. In fact, 75 percent of the Hawaii population resides on Oahu.
Instead of staying at a crowded high-rise hotel in Honolulu or Waikiki in Oahu, you should consider a Hawaii vacation rental. You can choose from Oahu Hawaii vacation condo rentals, house rentals and other accommodations. To experience the biggest waves, book an Oahu beach house between October and March.
When you aren't spending time on the beach or in the water, you should visit Oahu's Hawaii Maritime Center. This cultural center offers a variety of indoor and outdoor displays depicting 2,000 years of Oahu and Hawaii history.
A must-see in Oahu is Pearl Harbor. You can tour the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial, which is located about 45-minutes west of Waikiki. No reservations are taken and the tour is free. You cannot bring in any backpacks, purses, shopping bags, luggage or any other such items at the Memorial. The tour takes 1 hour and 15 minutes.
